From the brand Previous page 1892: Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opens a cobblery in Milwaukee with partner, Joseph Peffer serving "Jobbing" trades. In 1900, Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. is formed. In 1916, the first catalog is printed and the company becomes the largest leather cutting machine supplier in the U.S. In 1917, the "Job-fitted" concept is introduced and Weinbrenner becomes a major supplier of boots to the U.S. Army during WWI. In 1938, the company begins producing safety footwear. In 1942, the company celebrates its 50th anniversary and shifts to manufacturing military footwear for the duration of WWII. In 1943, the company workers organize under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union. In 1964, the Hike n' Camp boot is introduced, becoming the company's best-selling boot. In 1988, the company is purchased by a local group, and the ThoroGard division is created. In 1992, Weinbrenner celebrates its 100th anniversary. In 2000, the employees take ownership of the company through ESOP. In 2001, Weinbrenner donates work boots to Ground Zero following the September 11 attacks.
