In 1892, Albert H. Weinbrenner, together with his partner Joseph Peffer, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee to serve the "Jobbing" trades. This marked the beginning of the brand. Eight years later, in 1900, Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was established. The company quickly grew and in 1916, they printed their first catalog and became the U.S.'s largest leather cutting machine manufacturer. During World War I in 1917, Weinbrenner introduced the concept of "Job-fitted" boots and became a major supplier to the U.S. Army.

In 1938, the company ventured into safety footwear production. By 1942, Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was celebrating its 50th anniversary and had converted to producing all-military footwear during World War II. These military-style boots gained popularity among civilians as well. In the same year, the workers of the company organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, establishing a positive and longstanding relationship between the management and employees.

The year 1964 saw the introduction of the company's best-selling boot, The Hike n' Camp, which became the official boot for Boy Scouts. In 1988, Weinbrenner was purchased by a local group, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, specializing in high-tech occupational safety footwear. Four years later, in 1992, Weinbrenner celebrated its 100th anniversary.

In 2000, the employees of Weinbrenner took ownership of the company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Tirelessly dedicated to serving the community, Weinbrenner donated 500 pairs of work boots to Ground Zero within three days after the September 11 attacks in 2001. The following year, the company introduced the 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted lifestyle boots.

As the years went by, Weinbrenner continued to thrive. In 2017, they celebrated their 125th anniversary and renewed their commitment to upgrading and improving their facilities and manufacturing methods. In 2022, the company will celebrate its 130th anniversary by opening a new factory in Merrill, WI and launching the first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. Looking ahead to 2023, Thorogood expects sales to continue to increase, thanks to its growing popularity and the introduction of new styles.

Since its founding in 1892, Thorogood has been dedicated to providing industry-leading footwear that prioritizes safety and comfort. Their work boots are made using the highest-quality materials to create durable and supportive footwear that can be trusted. As an employee-owned company, Thorogood understands the needs of hard-working individuals such as firefighters, public safety professionals, linemen, carpenters, and more. They offer a range of job-fitted boots and designs, including hunting and hiking boots.

Among their lineup, the Deuce series stands out as a versatile and reliable option. These 6-inch tactical boots are lightweight, breathable, and designed to withstand various hazards. Featuring a rugged lug, dual-density Z-Trac outsole, and a BBP Waterproof barrier, these boots provide exceptional traction, protection, and comfort. With a cement welt for flexibility and a composite shank for extra reinforcement, the Deuce series ensures durability and support. Additionally, the removable polyurethane SHOCK ZONE insole offers comfort and moisture-wicking properties.

In conclusion, Thorogood's commitment to quality and innovation has allowed them to establish a legacy in the footwear industry since 1892. Their products cater to the needs of hardworking individuals, providing them with reliable and comfortable boots for both on-the-job and recreational purposes. As they continue to evolve and expand their product offerings, Thorogood remains a trusted brand for those who value safety and comfort in their footwear.
