Thorogood’s moc toe work boots, in dark Briar Pitstop brown (814-3800), are made of premium full-grain saddle leather. These boots are not only comfortable but also able to withstand punishing jobs. The sole of the boots is made of MaxWear Wedge™ traction outsole, which flexes better than other work boot outsoles. It absorbs impacts and keeps you on your feet even on loose gravel and wet and oily surfaces. The boots meet ASTM F3445-21 Slip Test Standards for work boot soles.

These American-made boots are produced by skilled craftsmen and women at Thorogood's US plants, using both USA and globally sourced components. They are waterproof, with a gusseted tongue to keep water and liquids away. The moisture-wicking lining inside pulls sweat away and out, allowing for worry-free work.

These MAXWear Wedge work boots also meet ASTM F2413-18 electrical hazard resistance safety standards. They have a removable ultimate shock absorption footbed that uses dual-density polyurethane concentrated under the heel and ball strike zone to absorb impacts and wick away moisture, ensuring maximum comfort.

The boots feature Goodyear storm welt construction, providing superior wear resistance and a moisture seal between the upper and midsole, making them extremely dependable, long-lasting, and fully-serviceable safety boots. The boots also have fiberglass shank construction, giving them the flex and strength needed to maintain their shape under heavy duress, with 8-inch flexible ankle support to keep you secure.

In 1892, Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with his partner, Joseph Peffer, serving "Jobbing" trades. In 1900, Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was formed, and in 1916, the company printed its first catalog. By 1917, they introduced the "Job-fitted" concept and became a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army in World War I.

In 1938, the company took its first steps into safety footwear production. In 1942, they celebrated 50 years in business and converted to producing all-military footwear for the duration of World War II. Military footwear also became popular with civilians. In 1943, the company workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, maintaining an outstanding relationship with management that continues to this day.

In 1964, the company introduced the Official Boy Scout Boot: The Hike n' Camp, which became their best-selling boot of all time. In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group, and in 2000, Weinbrenner employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP.

In 2001, shortly after the September 11 terror attacks, Weinbrenner donated 300 pairs of durable work boots to Ground Zero for those working in the rubble. In 2014, they introduced the 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots. In 2017, they celebrated their 125th anniversary and demonstrated a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving their facilities and manufacturing methods.

In 2022, Weinbrenner celebrated 130 years as a company, opening a new factory in Merrill, WI, and launching their first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. In 2023, sales continue to increase as Thorogood gains popularity and expands with new styles on the horizon.
