From the brand

In 1892, Albert H. Weinbrenner opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with his partner, Joseph Peffer. The company, now known as Albert H. Weinbrenner Co., has a long history of producing high-quality boots. In 1916, they printed their first catalog and became the leading producer of leather-cutting machines in the US. During World War I, they supplied boots to the US Army and introduced the "job-fitted" concept. In 1938, they ventured into safety footwear production.

In 1942, the company celebrated its 50th year in business and converted to producing all-military footwear for the duration of World War II. The military-style boots also became popular among civilians. In 1943, the company workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, and since then, the management and workers have maintained a strong relationship.

Over the years, the company has introduced various innovative products. In 1964, they launched the Hike n' Camp boot, which became their best-selling boot of all time. In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group, leading to the creation of the "ThoroGard" division focusing on occupational safety footwear. In 1992, Weinbrenner celebrated its 100th year in business.

In 2000, employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). In 2001, following the September 11 terror attacks, Weinbrenner donated durable work boots to Ground Zero. In 2014, they introduced the 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots.

The company celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2017 and demonstrated a commitment to upgrading and improving domestic facilities, machines, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems/programs.
