Previous page 1892: Albert H. Weinbrenner, along with partner Joseph Peffer, opens a cobblery in Milwaukee at the age of 27, serving "Jobbing" trades.
1900: Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. is established.
1916: The company prints its first catalog and becomes the largest producer of leather cutting machines in the United States.
1917: Introduces the "Job-fitted" concept and becomes a major supplier of boots to the U.S. Army during WWI.
1938: Enters the safety footwear production industry.
1942: Celebrates 50 years in business, exclusively manufacturing military footwear during WWII and gaining popularity among civilians.
1943: Workers organize under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, establishing an outstanding relationship with management that continues to this day.
1964: Introduces The Hike n' Camp, the Official Boy Scout Boot, featuring a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching. It remains our best-selling boot of all time and is still available in its original design.
1988: Local group, including six employees, purchases the company. ThoroGard division is created, specializing in high-tech occupational safety footwear.
1992: Celebrates 100 years of lasting quality.
2000: Employees gain ownership of the company through an ESOP.
2001: Donates 300 pairs of work boots to Ground Zero after the September 11 attacks, followed by 200 more pairs.
2014: Introduces the 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots, built on the iconic No. 60 last.
2017: Celebrates its 125th Anniversary and demonstrates a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving domestic facilities, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems/programs.
2022: Celebrates 130 years, opens a new factory in Merrill, WI, and launches Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons, the company's first western wear product.
2023: Continued sales growth as Thorogood gains popularity, with many new styles on the horizon.

ELECTRIC HAZARD:
Constructed or manufactured with electric shock-resisting soles and heels capable of withstanding an application of 18,000 volts (root mean square (RMS) value) at 60 Hz for 1 minute, with no current flow or leakage in excess of 1.0 milliamperes under dry conditions.
