Throughout its history, Weinbrenner has been a leading brand in the footwear industry. In 1892, Albert H. Weinbrenner, along with partner Joseph Peffer, established a cobblery in Milwaukee to cater to the "Jobbing" trades. As the business grew, the company officially formed as Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. in 1900.
Notably, in 1916, Weinbrenner printed its first catalog and became renowned for having more leather cutting machines than any other company in the United States. The introduction of the "Job-fitted" concept in 1917 further solidified Weinbrenner's reputation. During World War I, the company played a significant role in supplying boots to the U.S. Army.
In 1938, Weinbrenner entered the safety footwear production arena. By 1942, the company celebrated 50 years in business and shifted its focus to military footwear during World War II. This decision proved popular with civilians as well.
In 1943, Weinbrenner workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, establishing a productive and long-lasting relationship with management.
Throughout the years, Weinbrenner continued to innovate and succeed. In 1964, the company introduced the iconic Hike n' Camp boot, which remains one of its best-selling products. In 1988, Weinbrenner was purchased by a local group, and its ThoroGard division was launched, offering high-tech occupational safety footwear.
In 1992, Weinbrenner celebrated its 100th anniversary with the theme "A Century of Lasting Quality." The year 2000 marked a significant milestone as employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).
In the wake of the September 11 terror attacks, Weinbrenner demonstrated its support by donating durable work boots to Ground Zero.
In 2014, the brand introduced the 1892 Heritage line, featuring handcrafted lifestyle boots. Three years later, Weinbrenner celebrated its 125th anniversary and demonstrated its commitment to upgrade domestic facilities and manufacturing methods.
Looking forward, the company plans to celebrate its 130th anniversary in 2022 with the opening of a new factory and the launch of its first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. In 2023, sales continue to rise as Thorogood gains popularity and expands its range.
Transitioning to product description, Thorogood introduces the Gen-flex2 8" Insulated Waterproof Composite Safety Toe Boot. These boots are designed to be slip-resistant, lightweight, and comfortable, making them suitable for various challenges and daily wear. The composite safety toe caps offer protection similar to steel but are non-metallic, corrosion-resistant, and lighter. The boots also feature electric shock-resisting soles and heels.
The footwear is 100% non-metallic, ensuring it won't scratch surfaces or activate security devices. Additionally, these boots meet the slip-resistance industry criteria and provide multi-layer cushion insoles for enhanced comfort. The composite safety toe offers protection, while the multi-directional traction lug outsole ensures grip on different surfaces. These boots also offer electrical hazard resistance.
Constructed with brown oiled full-grain leather, Thorogood's 8-inch Wellington-style work boots are both sturdy and comfortable. They feature a heavy-duty YKK side-zipper for a secure fit and easy on and off. These boots are ideal for men with dangerous jobs and meet ASTM F2413-18 safety toe standards. The slip-resistant Gen-flex2 traction outsole provides flexibility and durability, meeting ASTM F2913-11 Slip Test Standards.
The boots are designed to withstand electrical hazards and provide comfort right out of the box, thanks to the removable single-density footbed. They also feature composite shank construction for strength and flexibility, along with Goodyear storm welt construction for superior wear resistance and moisture seal.
Thorogood's "Job-fitted" design ensures these boots are optimized for tough, dirty jobs, making them suitable for various professions such as agriculture, construction, carpentry, mechanics, welding, and truck driving. With Weinbrenner's commitment to quality and innovation, these boots are built to withstand the mud and muck of demanding work environments.
